Accreditation
The National Childcare Accreditation Council implemented the
Quality Improvement and Accreditation System in 1996 – the first quality
assurance system in children’s services.
ACC has worked through 6 accreditation reviews during this time with
exemplary results in every one. Our most
recent validation was conducted in July 2007 and the result was “high quality”
in every quality area. We are due to
submit our next Self Study Report in January 2010. The centre is currently working through a
continuing improvement plan until the next review.

Kids - Go For Your Life
Supported by Diabetes Australia, Cancer Council Victoria
and the Victorian Government, this award is relatively new and has not been
achieved by many services. ACC has just
recently been awarded as a “Kids – go for your life” service by meeting
criteria including “tap into water everyday”,
“plant fruit and veg in your lunch box”, “limit sometimes foods”, “move,
play and go”, “stride and ride”.

Golden Plate
Established some years ago by the City of Monash, this award has only been open to
childcare services since 2006. ACC took
the opportunity to apply for the award in it’s inaugural year and achieved
exceptional results in the category of “childcare services and school
canteens”. We followed that up with an
overall win again in 2007. The award
criteria include providing healthy food options, sun protection and food safety
and hygiene.

Start Right, Eat Right
The “Start right, eat right” program is the first chapter in
achieving the “Kids go for your life” award.
The requirement is for both centre cook and manager to receive
accredited training to ensure the centre’s menus are meeting all nutritional
needs of the children. This training is
updated every 2 years. Parents can rest
assured that if their child eats most of the food offered during the day, they
are receiving a minimum 50% of the RDI (recommended daily intake).

Asthma Friendly Children's Service
This award provides peace of mind for families that their
child’s asthma needs will be met via staff training which includes preparation
of asthma management plans and having a BAN (bronchodilator number) which
allows staff to purchase Ventolin for the emergency asthma kit. All staff are accredited asthma first aiders
and complete refresher training annually.
The centre has a comprehensive asthma management policy which is
reviewed every 2 years or as required.

Family Childcare Awards
A relatively new award predominantly sponsored
by Fisher Price, the Family Childcare Awards are open to parents/guardians who
use a service and who believe they are receiving above standard childcare and Kindergarten
programs. ACC was nominated by a
group of families who feel they want to recognise our quality above and beyond the basic
requirements for this industry. We
have been acknowledged for “outstanding achievement in childcare”,
of which we are collectively proud.
We hope families will nominate our service again in 2009 –
brochures will be issued via your child’s communication pocket.
